NDIS

NDIS

Occupational therapy for people with psychosocial disability, neurodivergence and cognitive impairments, focused on everyday function and participation.

We consider your strengths, the activities and roles that matter to you, and the environment and support around you. This includes difficulties that fluctuate or are not immediately visible to others.

Our support can help you build skills or maintain your ability to manage everyday life.

Gloved hands work in garden soil.

Who We Work with

We work with people whose disability affects everyday activities, relationships and participation. This includes psychosocial disability associated with:

  • Major depressive disorder.
  • Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder.
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD.
  • Dissociative identity disorder (DID) and other dissociative disorders.
  • Schizophrenia.
  • Bipolar disorder.

We also work with autistic people, people with ADHD, and people with acquired brain injury (ABI) or other disabilities affecting cognition.

Cognitive difficulties can affect memory, attention, processing information, planning, judgement and following through. This can make it harder to manage appointments, prepare meals, keep track of tasks or take part in work, study and community activities.

We work with you towards your identified NDIS goals.

What Occupational Therapy Might Support You with

We work with you to identify what is getting in the way and find ways to increase or maintain participation. This can involve:

  • Developing skills and strategies for activities that matter to you.
  • Problem solving difficulties with planning, starting and completing tasks.
  • Adapting activities or using assistive technology.
  • Adjusting the environment to reduce demands.
  • Identifying the support you need and helping others use consistent approaches.

The focus can be building skills, maintaining function or finding another way to participate.

Capacity Building and Maintenance Therapy

Capacity building focuses on developing skills and strategies to increase your participation and independence.

Maintenance therapy focuses on preserving your ability to carry out everyday activities and preventing or delaying a decline in function. This can include adapting routines, reducing demands and supporting the people around you to use consistent approaches.

Occupational therapy is commonly funded through Improved Daily Living in the NDIS Capacity Building budget. The support must address your disability-related needs and fit the funding in your plan. A combination of capacity building and maintenance therapy can be appropriate.

With your consent, we work with family, support workers and other providers to put agreed approaches into practice.
