Mental Health Occupational Therapy via Telehealth

Mental Health Occupational Therapy via Telehealth

Meet with an experienced mental health occupational therapist by secure video, wherever you live in Australia. We work with adults on the practical ways mental health affects everyday life.

How to get started

1. Get in touch

Contact us yourself, or ask your GP, psychiatrist or treating professional to refer you.

2. Discuss your needs

We can discuss what support you are seeking and whether telehealth is suitable for you.

3. Meet online

Your occupational therapist works with you on strategies that fit your daily life and goals.

What we can work on

Mental health occupational therapy connects psychological treatment with the activities, routines and roles that matter to you. Depending on your needs, telehealth sessions may cover:

  • managing anxiety, mood or trauma related difficulties
  • building routines, self-care and emotional regulation
  • participating in work, study, relationships and meaningful activities
  • planning, organisation and practical changes in your environment.

Telehealth can be useful when travel, caring responsibilities or limited local services make clinic appointments difficult. Your therapist will discuss whether online treatment is clinically appropriate for your circumstances.

Medicare and referrals

If you are eligible for Better Access and have an appropriate referral, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for individual telehealth treatment. You can still contact us to ask about the service before arranging a referral.

Read about Medicare mental health OT or see referral information for GPs and psychiatrists.

For referring practitioners

We accept appropriate telehealth referrals from GPs and psychiatrists across Australia. Our service may help patients whose mental health affects daily functioning and who have limited access to suitable local treatment. We provide written communication following each course of Better Access treatment.

Other therapy options

Psychotherapy and EMDR may also be available by telehealth, depending on the clinician and your circumstances. We can discuss the options with you.

Ask about telehealth

Tell us what support you are looking for. We can discuss the next step and which clinician or service may be appropriate.
